Centered in Brooklyn there are a lot of Jews in and around the college which makes one feel comfortable being Jewish. However, there are also often protests, though their is usually significant security.
The Hillel is very nice and they have classes in Torah related topics regularly. The Chabad is also really nice and they also have classes every week. Both places also have food available for free almost every day. In addition there are also dozens of shuls and beis medrishes surrounding the college. The closest one is just down the block and they have mincha minyanim regularly throughout the day.
Even though there is a large Muslim contingent on campus, Brooklyn college feels safe to be a Jew. However, considering the various protest which have occurred the past year it does not always feel so.
The hillel has a restarting in it and there are a plethora of options along Ave J and even more if you want to go further. You’re I. The center of a large Jewish community so there are many options.
As a modern Orthodox Jew the community feels lacking as most events are geared towards people who need chizuk. This means that most of my Jewish life is found off campus.
Not in the Hillel itself but in the surrounding community there are shuls on almost every street as well as many places to learn.
