1. Who we are

Jewish College Review ("we", "our", "us") is a crowdsourced platform where Jewish students share reviews of campus life at US universities. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We use your email address to verify that you hold a .edu address issued by a university in our directory.

Review content. When you submit a review we store your school, graduation year, major, religious denomination (optional), star ratings, and any written text you provide. If you choose to post non-anonymously, your display name is associated with your review publicly.

Anonymous reviews. If you post anonymously, your name is never shown on the site. We still store your user ID internally so you can edit or delete your review; this internal link is never surfaced publicly.

School requests. If you submit a school request without signing in, we collect the school name, the email address you provide, and your IP address. The IP address is used only for rate limiting and is not shared.

Usage data. We do not run any third-party analytics or advertising. Standard server logs (including IP addresses) may be retained briefly for security and debugging purposes.

3. How we use your information

• To verify your university affiliation and allow you to submit a review
• To display your review publicly (with or without your name, per your choice)
• To let you edit or delete your own review
• To prevent abuse and enforce rate limits
• To contact you if we add a school you requested (only the email you provided)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. Authentication is handled via Google OAuth we never store your Google password. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure.

5. Your choices and rights

Edit or delete your review. Signed-in users can edit or delete their review at any time from their account page.

Anonymity. You can toggle anonymity on or off when writing or editing a review. Switching to anonymous immediately removes your name from the public display.

Account deletion. To have your account and all associated data permanently deleted, email us at the address below. We will process your request within 30 days.

6. Cookies and sessions

We use cookies only to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

7. Children's privacy

This site is intended for current and former college students. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has submitted information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when changes were last made. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
